[12:03 pm] :) (EDITED)

[Entry Updated: 18th Dec. Check the update at the end of this entry]

I saw something very beautiful last night, and it melted my heart and made me feeling a little fuzzy inside =)

Anyways, back to the entry. It's now nearly the middle of December, and when it seems only just a few weeks back that I wrote my reflection of the year 2005, and now, almost 12 months later, 2006 is drawing to an end.

Will scan through my entries one of the next few days and write down my year in retrospect sometime next week or the week after next. Hehe (not like anyone's that eager to read it anyway? :P)

So yeah, Christmas is juz around the corner, a season of giving and sharing. Last Sunday, I was walking about around Subang Parade while waiting for our table to be ready at TGIF, I came across this Christmas tree in front of Sushi King, and next to the tree was a list of names from a special need center with the three items they would like for Christmas.

When I look at the list, it reminds me of the orphanage in Malacca that I once visited, as a part of our 'requirements' for the Moral and Ethics course. Looking back, the lecturer offered us one of either two options, an assignment for a case study or we could all do charity work. And I think, the whole class unanimously chose the field work, and I think we didn't regret it not even a single bit.

The trip to the orphanage made me realise that when compared to them, they have so little when we have so much. We have a loving family who love and care for us, while they only have their friends them and their caretakers. We all probably have the latest colour-screen camera and mp3-enabled handphones, or the fastest PCs and the ultra-hip Ipods - they probably haven't even touched a handphone or an Ipod, and the PC they have is still probably running on Windows 98 (or God forbid, Windows 95!) with 32MB of RAM. And even that is shared among the whole lot!

And when we dine with our family and friends during the festivities - CNY, Raya, Deepavali or Christmas, they wait for companies and corporations to organise a gathering or buffet. And when we don new clothes for the festivals, they will probably will not be wearing anything new, unless if they have some spare cash to spare or having some samaritans to donate some. Kesian kan. We probably have dilemma deciding between getting something from TopShop or Zara and to them, these names would probably sound so alien or to them. And when don't even have the chance to wear a Nike, but we probably have different pairs for different classes, or in different colours and styles.

And back to the list I was mentioning earlier on, these kids rarely ask for much, and from the list most of them wanted colour pencils and colouring books, reading materials (books etc), articles of clothing and educational VCDs.

So back to the topic, and this is by no means a publicity campaign for any establishment(s), let's do our part to make the lives of the unfortunate ones a little brighter this festive season. Donation boxes are available at most, if not all shopping malls for collection of both monetary and non-monetary items such as food and dry stuff, daily essentials items (toothpaste, shampoo etc), clothing, stationery and reading materials, among others.

You don't have to splurge and buy a whole a supermarket (unless you're that rich lah), in fact a small donation of items like Milo, cereals, cookies, biscuits, and even Maggi Mee goes a long way. Essential items like soap, shampoo, face wash are also welcomed. I personally favour items like stationeries (pens, colour pencils, pencils, erasers etc) and reading materials, and with this, I'm making a personal pledge to make a donation of items to one of the collection centers before Christmas this year.

So are you guys game and up for it? I'm sure you guys are, and let's do our part as a member of our loving community. Let's give as much as we can to those who have so little.

Note: In a very UNLIKELY event you can't locate any of the collection centers (mata tak bukak ke?), you can drop your donations and items at the nearest Fitness First gym to you. For locations, check out the Fitness First website for the address and contact numbers of the nearest branch. I've heard that they will be a Christmas wishlist as well at each gym, so check it out too yea?

And this was something I got from my other friends' site:

On another side track note, the BodyJam 39 Launch will take place at True Fitness, Sri Hartamas on Friday, Dec 15th (915pm) and Saturday 16th Dec (715pm). The colour theme will be Christmas-sy, so come in red, white or green. Wear a santa hat if you have one, and rock the class.

The following week, BodyJam 39 will be launched at Fitness First at Wisma SPK on Monday, Dec 18th (905pm), IOI Mall on Tuesday, Dec 19th (935pm) and at Menara Axis on Dec 20th (620pm?).

So see you guys there! Remember! Dance4Life!

Don't forget your pledges yea!

My dearest friend LadyNina from the FF forum did her part to cheer up some abandoned kids who are HIV+ and you can read her story here. She personally shopped, prepared and wrapped 45 individual presents for the them. I'm so proud of you Nina! :)
