DragonSoul Weekly Post

Hey chummers. The Blog Ninja is letting me post here so I'll be posting a weekly entry for our bp (DragonSoul). What DragonSoul and ninjas have in common I do not know. You can refer to me as the Bobble-head Ninja on this blog. On LOA you may know me as Mataius (elf) or Tristam (prince). Anyway, here's the latest news:
- we have a new bp house in aden! it's near a storage dwarf and tele lady
- Mataius is now in the bp thanks to Shavalia
- AnotherElf has made his return to our bp

Drops of the week:
nzels, ndais, bkats... nothing out of the ordinary

Special Thanks to:
- Trondheim, for giving me cancel sb so I can piss everyone off, and for letting me post here so I can talk about them behind their backs afterwords
- Shavalia, for helping me get Mataius into the bp
- ShadesOfBlack bp, for letting us tag along on FI and TOI hunts

It's not a good morning and I'm not happy to see you

I have returned to work after a 3 day weekend. I was immediately struck by how tired I am of looking happy and saying good morning to people I don't know as I walk around the building. I'm tired of smiling at people I don't know and saying good morning/afternoon whatever. Office ettiquette is tiresome. Did I spell ettiquette correctly? Who knows. Oh, and I played Lineage this weekend. Solo'd Iffy for the first time so I'm proud of that. Actually it was quite easy so I guess I shouldn't be all that proud. Got a bkat. Too bad I use a Bume Smache. Think I'll go for +9 with the bkat. Not interested in using it unless its +9. B-dai'd the bume. Went +7. Was happy. Tuesday is Monday after long weekend. Can't create complete thoughts. Turn them into sentences? Too much. Can't think. All for now cya bye.

Here's a Thought

I've been thinking of a character building strategy for my knight on LoA. Sorry to all my friends on Ken, I know I haven't been on very much. I've been having a lot of fun meeting new people and levelling my knight. Sorry.
Here's my thought. Anyone who's levelled a knight knows that it's rather expensive. Between braves and healing potions and hastes you're looking at dropping thousands of adena everytime you visit the potion shop to stock up for a hunt. It takes a lot of cash to level a knight. That's our weakness. Here's my thought. I will spend my cash ONLY on consumables such as potions and scrolls. I will build my character's equipment ONLY with what I receive as drops. One thing I've noticed in three years of Lineage is that as a knight, you have to have money to make money. Also, I think this will allow me to retain an interest in the game while I'm grinding through level 48 and 49 on the way to 50. Always before, I would use cash to buy items. Normally I would get some decent drops, sell them, and use the cash to buy nice items. But, then I'd reach a wall. I'd be stuck on a level (49 for example) and my items would be maxed out for what I could reasonably afford. So, I'd be stuck. I think if I wait and build my character using drops only I'll have a lot more fun. Constantly saving money, and not having enough to buy what I want is something I do everyday. I call it real life. I don't want Lineage to be so much like real life. It's a game, it's supposed to be fun. Also, at level 49 I found myself running out of money. I mean, totally out of money. So, that got me really discouraged and combine that with the grind of level 49 and I just burnt out. So, anyway, I'm gonna try something new this time around. Let's see if this strategy gets me that morph that I've been wanting to get for three years now. I think it's well past time that I stop wasting time and break through the level 49 barrier. I began this game with a knight and anyone who knows me knows that at heart that's what I'll always be. I'm going to try very hard to bring this gaming experience full circle. I'm going to try very hard to reach my goal and level a knight to 50. I've also got a steady hunting partner in Mataius now. He's just as dedicated as I am and we play during the same hours and know each other from RL in college. It makes it much easier to keep grinding when you have somebody to hunt with and talk to. If I'm not on Ken server very much I apologize. To all you Ken players, please, stay in touch via our blogs and AIM and I promise I'll pop in as often as I can and chat and go on hunts with you guys. Peace out!

I Don't Care About Sports

I'm at work. I have my coffee and I'm doing an update before I get started for the day. The people in the cubie next to are talking about the Yankees. Apparently they played a game last night and lost, or won, or something. I have never been a sports fan. I'm not against sports, I don't hate atheletes for being rich. I just don't think sports is very interesting. I'm midly amazed by people who can stand around and talk stats for hours, or who know everything about every member of the team they follow. I dunno, none of it seems all that interesting. I've tried to get into it with no success. I usually end up wondering what's on Comedy Central or Food Network. Or I just leave the TV on and go play Lineage...
Last night I was hunting FV with Mataius. It was a ho-hum night with no big drops and both of us just grinding along half-awake. All of a sudden on the left side of my screen, it's a bird, it's a plane...no, it IS a bird. PHOENIX!! So Phoe smacks me once with that fire bomb thing it does and I escape to Werldern and grab 100 OJ's. I party chat Mataius and say "grab pots, ojs, use the FV bookmark and run back to it". So, that's what I do. Grab 100 OJ's tele to the FV path bookmark and haul ass back to the heart. Along the way I grabbed two other people and said, "Phoe come on". So I get back to the heart and there's Phoe. He starts bombing a DK who had just run onto the screen and I charged and started hitting it. Honest to God for like at least 30 seconds I was the only person hitting it. Finally a couple other people got up their nerve and started hitting it. I was taking damage from it the whole time and me just say one thing. I can only speak for LoA, but seriously people. Phoe is not that hard to survive or to hit. I was watching closely to see if I was hitting and I don't recall any of my swings not hitting it. Furthermore, like I said, I was taking the hits for about 30 seconds before people starting attacking it and all I had to do was hold down the OJ key and I was fine. On big hits it was doing about 200-250 damage. That sounds scary but really the OJ's kept up just fine. Most of the time I had full, or nearly, full HP. Seems like the only big hit it does is the fire bomb thing. A hasted astagio does more damage than it's normal attack. Really, it wasn't that hard at all. I'm only level 44 with like 435 HP. I was using +4B-COMR and 2 Phoe Rings (10% Fire Resist total) and had no trouble at all. Talk about fun though! Now THAT will get your heart pounding. Too bad the DK next to me got 7 out of the 9 lines of drops, including 2 TQD. I only got 40,000 adena and a rez scroll but I know my two lines could have just as easily been an ROF and 2 TQD. So, next time some 50+ person says you can't survive Phoe without 2 ROF and 100% MR don't believe them. They say that so you'll be afraid to attack Phoe. Fewer people means they get more drops. I'm a level 44 18 STR 16 CON Knight. I had my buffs running at the time so I had 23 STR, ~435HP, 40 MR, 10% Fire Resist, and +2 Damage from Enchant Weapon. Here's the kicker...hitting Phoenix alongside a DK, a bapho, and one other succubus I was using my +5Bume Smache and I pulled drops. Just another example of why the Bume Smache is the most underrated Knight weapon on LoA. The morale of the story? Don't believe what high level people say. Next time you see Phoe you charge right at that bastard, hold down your OJ hotkey, and pray for a good drop. That's all for now!

Week-End Update

It was a marathon Lineage weekend for me, which was a whole lot of fun. Brings back memories of college when I could play Lineage for like 12 hours and collapse into bed at like 4:00am secure in the knowledge that I had nothing important to do the next day. Now, I can't enjoy Lineage as much because I know I have like at least 5 other things that are far more important that need to be taken care of. Responsibility, it's a bitch. But, anyway like I said it was a fun weekend because I got like 6 solid hours of play time on both Saturday and Sunday. On Sunday alone I went from like 11-70% in just one TOI run. Speaking of TOI, myself and Shavalia, DragonTech, Tantrum, Mataius and Komikaze all did a nice TOI 1-10 run and found ZQ. She ended in like 6 seconds flat, which means she was either really wimpy or our party was really strong. I know I didn't have much to do with it since I'm still a weak noob knight. However, 2 of my party was 50, 2 49's, a 48, and then me, noobing along at level 42. Anyway, was fun, spawn was crazy but we had an NB elf (Tantrum) so I barely used any pots. On a side note. FV on LOA is nothing like FV on Ken. On Ken server it was very difficult for me, as a knight, to be able to level there and not lose money on every hunt. On LOA, Mataius and myself have been teaming up and hunting upper FV and actually making a very nice profit on each hunt. The drops on LOA are so much better than Ken. Fire Archers are dropping like 250-300 adena each for example. We've also been ending Ifrit like at least 2 times a day. He's so easy on LoA it's funny. Even at level 42 with only -43 AC and a +5 Bume Smache he's so easy I don't even get excited when we see him. It's like ho-hum another Iffy. I think on the last one, Sunday evening, I used 30 reds and like 2 clears and he ended in like 20 seconds with just the two of us hitting him. Anyway, gotta get back to work. This week I'm pushing Trondheim to 45 so Mataius can kill him for his 45 Royal quest. Then it's off to FI to get us some a-scrolls. I need APM, he needs ALA. We both need a-scrolls. Peace out for now.
