A Blog Since I Haven't Blogged
I'm soaking dishes and procrastinating, so I thought I should blog.
Still knitting and still listening to Air Supply.
I actually haven't felt too well the last couple of days. Jason got home really late last night, so we didn't get to bed until 2 a.m. As you can imagine today wasn't much better.
This blog interrupted to take toddler to bathroom, step on sliver of glass, remove said sliver from foot, and wait for the bleeding to stop. Ouch!
Emily has decided it's time to potty train. I'm still struggling with the dog, so had pretty much decided that we weren't going to do the train Mommy thing with Emily. You know asking every five minutes if she has to go to the bathroom. Maybe I'm just lazy by the time I've gotten to number three. The great thing is she's decided on her own to come tell me..
"Mommy, poo poo toilet." or "Mommy pee pee toilet." (yes we've reached new levels on this blog with a sentence like that)
She's not completely there yet, but does go several times a day. I have not had to change a poopy diaper for days. It is soooo nice.
Well, I guess I'll cut this short. Jason just walked in the door and Ryan needs to go to basketball practice.
The dishes aren't going to wash themselves. |

Feels like Christmas
Really. It does. I placed a huge order from Amazon.com on NOVEMBER 13 for Christmas. Five things never arrived...until yesterday. Merry Christmas kids. It's only two months late. Right now my kids are playing with a lacing set, peg and pegboard, shape puzzle, hopper game, and playmobil pirate set. They're loving it.
I was also thrilled, because my first order of "good" yarn arrived (aka NOT the cheap stuff at the px). It is sooo soft. I love it. I ordered pink, red, and blue. I'm going to make a scarf for each child. _Knitting for Dummies_ also arrived. Sean was amused by the title.
Dear sister and mother you will NEVER guess what I'm listening to right now. I convinced Jason to get it for me for Valentine's Day. Seriously, you'll never guess....

Can you believe it? I LOVE it!! Remember the record we always listened to whenever Dad was gone? It's the exact same thing on CD. It was originally released in 1983. I sat here all night knitting and singing rather loudly, listening to the CD. I was singing and counting stitches at the same time.
"You know you can't fool me (2 3 4), I've been loving you too long(5, 6, 7 purl). It started so easy(knit 1). You wan't to carry on(purl 10). Lost in love and I don't know much. ..." |

Disappointing Ball Pictures
We got our pictures back from the ball. I would like them, but they are really far away and way too dark. We kind of blend into the darkness behind us. Everyone's were like this.
Here we are, but I had a really hard time getting a decent scan.
Since you can't see too well, here's a closeup...
Same ol' same ol' here. Emily has been sick this week 103-104 temps. Seems to be doing better now. The boy's basketball season is keeping us busy.
Alaska, I'll share our story later. I need to be going to bed. It's nothing exciting, but since you asked... |

Yep, I'm a Mormon
I was curious to see the results, I guess they were right on. See Mom, I have been paying attention.

Ball Details
Whew! Where has the week gone? My brain is a bit fuzzy on the details I was too tired to share, but here's what I can think of.
First of all, the kids LOVED going to the babysitter. I've decided that we need to take advantage of her while we're here, and plan to go somewhere without the kids at least once a month until we leave.
The evening started with cocktail hour (although it seemed like longer than an hour to me). Basically long lines for drinks, and everyone standing around chatting. Since I don't drink, the lines didn't bother me.
Then it was time to be seated for the formal portion to start. The colors were presented (the ceremony of bringing in the flags), and they played the Korean and American national anthem. They did the round of toasts which took FOREVER. I don't remember the order of all this, but basically the brigade commander spoke, and then introduced the guest speaker. He was a retired general who had won a Medal of Honor.
In the middle of all this was the part I most wanted to share. They do a presentation with a member representing each branch of the military. They have a table set up in the front center. They go through a whole ceremony where they place their hats, they light a candle, and there is a single rose. It's a remembrance of those no longer with us, and prisoners of war. Basically that is their table, but they can't be there. They tip the chairs to signify that they are unable to be with us. It was very touching. At one point they showed pictures of the two who were killed in the crash this summer. When I saw the picture of our friend, I lost it. I was soooo glad I stuck some tissues in my little purse. Each thing they did signified something. It was so great. Sad, but good.
We had dinner, and they had a list of who had won door prizes. I won dinner at Outback Steakhouse, and Jason won a $110 pair of boots that he was dying to get. Very cool!
Towards the end of the evening, before the dancing started, they did a video monage of the past year. It was basically pictures and video of aircraft and soldiers set to music. I really enjoyed it. When they showed each respective aircraft (Blackhawk, Apache, Chinook, etc.) the representative people did their cheering and manly yelling. The first part was to some heavy metal type music (which went well with the pictures), and the second part was to "American Soldier". It, of course, made me cry again. They flashed a picture of our friend during the line about those we've lost.
All in all it was a great evening. We stayed for part of the dancing and even danced one song (that's amazing for Jason!) We had a lot of fun, and enjoyed the other people from the company that we were able to be with.
I'll post the picture we had taken of the two of us when we get them back. (IF they turned out decent!)

Ryan Update
Ryan had a follow-up with our pediatrician today. He is doing so great. We're starting him on the last cycle of steroids to start weaning him off of them. Over the next six weeks we lower the dosage every two weeks. By the first of March he will hopefully be in full remission! The doctor said that this is a critical time as his body starts taking over where the drugs leave off. Ryan is sure that his kidney's will do what they're supposed to. We are excited to be almost done with the secret spy medicine. Thank you all again for remembering us. We couldn't have made it through this without the thoughts and prayers of our friends and loved ones.
Go hug your little ones. |

The Ball
We had a wonderful time at the aviation ball. I'll share details later, but for now here are a couple of pictures. We had our picture taken there, and when we get them back I'll post them. My main purpose right now is to show my sister how my hair was done. I went to the salon on post, and told the girl to do whatever she wanted. I knew I wanted it up, but the rest was up to her. It was a great night, and I'm so glad we went. Details later, I'm tired!
