#26 Walter Skold: Hello Sir,
I am a photographer working on a book about the graves of American poets, and I'm writing to ask if you know where John Tagliabue was buried?
I am trying to photograph the graves of poets from Maine (or connected to Maine), and any help in this regard would be appreciated.

| #25 jazzolog: I think we've nailed the date of the Chappell Christmas Carol to 1941, and a number of Internet friends have shown up over the years to help with that research. Finally a guy in New Mexico, I think it was, sent me a photocopy of the original notes. It was a true flash from the past to see the whole cast listed there. I've written to the fine actor Robin Gammell, and will get a CD copy to him as soon as he replies. |

| #24 ROBIN GAMMELL: Posted a note at Jazzolog Comments, and don't know if this goes to the same place. I am looking for a copy of the RCA Victor version of "Chrismas Carol. Ebay was mentioned. Anyplace else? Fasinating the research that someone had done on the cast from a 1938 recording! Was that you jazzolog? |

| #23 jazzolog: It's great to get a request or 2 each year for a copy of this wonderful production of A Christmas Carol. If you're wondering about it, the entry I wrote is here www.upsaid.com/jazzolog/index.php?action=viewcom&id=60 . As soon as I hear back from Mr. Garbig, regarding his mailing address, I'll make him a CD and try to get it there before Christmas. Looks like we may be going up to Canada with it this time. |

#22 Ross Garbig: Well, it's Christmas time again and thoughts turn to Christmas Eve and the redemption of Old Scrooge. Hello and I am so glad to have found this posting. My family used to gather around the old Electrohome Hi-Fi and listen to A Christmas Carol prodcuced and narrated by Ernest Chappell. It is by far my favourite rendition of this great old Dicken's classic. The fact that it evokes wonderful memories of a happy childhood I'm sure has something to do with it, but more than that, if you listen closely you come to appreciate the care and professionalism of the production.
Unfortunately, my nephew (not Fred) broke the third disc a couple of years ago. Very fortunately I had just previously copied the discs to cassette and over the last while I have created a CD version using some PC recording software. I still have the original album with cover and liner notes in good shape and would be willing to send a picture of either/both to anyone who requests them. The version I have is DG-29 and the records are stamped by the RCA Victor Company Limited Montreal Canada. There no dates anywhere.
I contacted RCA yesterday to see if the master discs were still around but their response was that they had no 'record' of what I was asking about.
I would be interested in knowing if anyone has a cleaner CD copy of the album. It is a treasure and if so I would love to have it.
Merry Christmas. |
