| Word count in "more" link
We made a slight improvement to the "More..." link which is displayed at the bottom of entries when the said entries have an extended body. This link can now include the number of words typed in the extended part of the entry, giving an indication to your viewers about how much more there is to read.
All the premade templates have been updated to make use this new feature. If you are using a custom template and would also like to use this feature, please edit your main page templates and add the !!word_count!! variable in the "More..." link template, where you want the word count to appear.
Improved extra pages templates
A new field has been added to the extra page templates: the "Page content" field.
This field has two purposes:
- Make it easier to edit an extra page's content. You no longer need to search through the page's html code to find the right place to type in your content.
- Make it easier to apply premade templates. The content of this new field is not altered when applying a premade template.
The content of this "Page content" field can be included in the "Extra page body" using the
!!content!! variable.
Url variables and plain text editor
Two small features have just been added:
- Url variables: These variables are used to display the filenames of the various pages composing an Upsaid journal. For example, if you want to make a link to your journal's main page, you would type !!url_main!! instead of index.php. This will be useful to users who do not use the default file names.
- Helpers for the entry plain text editor: The "Add image" and "Add links" icons have been added to the plain text editor, making life easier for those who do not like the wysiwyg editor.
Rich text editor
Upsaid entries can now be posted and edited through wysiwyg editors.
Due to the amount of users who were disappointed by the disappearence of the "Image" and "Link" buttons, we decided to restore this feature without delay. Only this time we didn't just throw in a couple buttons, we added an actual wysiwyg editor! wysiwyg stands for "What You See Is What You Get". This means that you can immediately see the formatting of your entry (eg. bold text, images, etc...) while you are typing it.
Note that if you don't like this type of editors, you can still go back to the plain old text areas by editing your control menu preferences.
Improved extended entries templates
As mentioned in the previous post, we have been working on simplifying the use of extended entries. All premade templates now support this feature by default, and it is now possible to use alternating entry templates in combination with extended entries.
If you currently are using a premade template, you don't need to do anything; changes will automatically be applied to your layout. However, if you have customized your layout, you will need to apply a very small change to your "Entry templates": you will simply need to add the !!more_link!! variable right after the !!body!! variable.
If you need any help editing your templates, please don't hesitate contacting us, and we will gladly fix your templates for you. |
