Every day, the need for accelerated nursing programs is increasing. The reason behind such call is that more and more wanted to take up nursing because of the brighter career opportunities it offers. It could be more of the salary it put forward to or the vocation itself. There have been a lot of individuals who claim that when you are a graduate of a nursing course, you have the edge and that you are more confident in getting the job you have applied for compared to those who have graduated from another course.


The accelerated nursing programs around the nation are generally programs approved by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing. These accelerated programs are available in most states (43 of 50) as well as the District of Columbia. There are over 220 programs across the United States that are able to provide this accelerated education. Those who are looking to receive an accelerated Master's degree will find 65 programs that provide them with the accelerated education.

It can be difficult for some to get into accelerated nursing programs because of the limited amount of program space and the structure of the program. Those interested will generally need to carry a 3.0+ GPA through their initial bachelor's degree.

These programs are meant for individuals who have already gone through a bachelor's or graduate degree in any degree program through a normal college. The accelerated program builds on the knowledge that students have already gained through their programs to push them through the fastest route to an RN license.


Schools that are offering accelerated nursing programs are already quite of a number. However, most prospects are still undecided. In order to be more convincing, why should students enroll in the course?

Unlike the regular nursing course, accelerated nursing programs are not open to all ages and to all who have just finished secondary school. The primary requirement for the course is that they need to finish a four-year degree of any course. Business, medical or even engineering courses is not a hindrance. These nursing programs open its door to those young professionals who wanted to excel more and have a more rewarding career. It does not matter what age bracket they belong as long as they are still capable and that the requirements are met.


There are basically two forms of degrees in accelerated nursing programs online namely competency based degrees and degree completion programs. The competency based degree is perfect for you if you want to plan your own working field while you are meeting the demands of your nursing profession goals. In this program, your previous education and career experiences are being recognized and these are useful in permitting you to accelerate the completion of your degree. You are then given the opportunity to finish your nursing degree after one to two years.
