Where have I been!?

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know... another hiatus without informing anyone.

Part of the problem is that I can't take screenshots of WoW for some reason. All I get are black screens. I had hoped to start blogging about the game again since those posts always seemed to be more fun, but what good are game posts without pictures.

I'm also trying to get out of my quarter-life crisis funk. I don't want to only make whiny, emo posts so typically I just choose not to post at all.

Anyhow, I'll see if I can't rummage up a post or two this week to try and get the ball rolling again.

Old Photos

We recently had a death in the family which brought people together for a memorial service on Saturday. Circumstances aside, it was very nice to see a lot of my family. Many of them I haven't talked to since Shaun and I were married.

After the mass, everyone went to my grandma's house for the rest of the day. Pot luck, beer, stories... a good old Irish wake. My sister and I had the opportunity to go through several photo albums my grandma had out. What an awe inspiring experience. My grand-parents being married in a huge, beautiful Catholic church. My parents camping at the lake. My first birthday party. My sisters and I opening Christmas presents. All these happy moments in time captured for future generations. I should go through old pictures more often. It brings you back to a place in your heart that you sometimes forget is there. It reminds you of what is truly important in life.

Quarter Life Crisis

Do you ever wake up in the morning and wonder just how you got to where you're at? I'm not so sure I'm ready to bear the details to the open public, but I wish I knew I wasn't crazy. I'm sure this is some sort of phase that everyone goes through, but I don't like it. Meh.... anyone who still reads this thing actually close enough to go get a drink with me?

New-fangled Phone

I have finally joined the 21st century and graduated from the world of the "free phone" to one with more bells and whistles then I know what to do with.

Corporate has enabled us to access our files using Windows-based smart phones, so seeing as it can now be a tax write off, I ordered the Mogul from Sprint. It was delivered yesterday. I'm very excited about the long term benefits, but so far, the short term frustrations have been overwhelming.

Aside from the hour I spent reading the instruction manual last night, I also spent most of the day today inputting my contact lists and adding my calender items since there was no quick and easy way to convert them from my Palm Pilot :(

You would think it would be a fairly smooth transition for me to go from a phone & a PDA to a PDA Phone, but it isn't. I have no idea how to do half the stuff I usually do with this new Windows based system, and apparently, because I don't own the full version of Outlook (only Outlook Express), I can't sync the phone to my computer to back up all my data. Anyone have an Outlook CD they want to let me borrow?

I've also been unable to figure out how to get birthdays to show up on my Calender from my Contact list - it did it automatically on my Palm. It even put a cute little birthday cake icon next to the note. So far, all I've found is some third-party software that I can pay for that will do it... just what I wanted, to spend $300 on a phone to learn I need to spend another $100 on Outlook and $30 for a more useful Calender/Contact tool.

Hopefully I can figure out the nuances soon and get to the fun part of surfing MySpace while I should be working, or using MSN Messenger during boring meetings. Because everyone knows that's REALLY why you get these phones.

Another Night in Hyjal

Last night was the start of our second week on Hyjal content. The first two bosses went down as if we'd been doing this for months. One of the trash mobs dropped our first Nethervoid Cloak, and I lost it... with a tie!

We actually had a second one drop off the trash for Kaz, but I didn't even come close to winning that roll.

Oh well, it'll drop again.

After clearing Winterchill and Anetheron, we tried to have Jaina teleport us to the horde area. Instead, she teleported herself and left us to run away, screaming, from the ghouls that swarmed the encampment. It was actually pretty funny.

On a separate note, I had been talking to one of our new guild members and learned he lived in Scottsdale. I mentioned that my sister worked at a cupcake shop there and so yesterday he took some friends of his who were having a bad day to her store and bought cupcakes from her. I think it freaked her out a little, but she rolled with it. Good thing she is understanding of my gaming. Plus I'm sure she is used to my online people becoming real people by now :)

And by the way, everyone wish Lefty a happy 10th birthday today!

Happy Valentine's Day

I was a lucky girl this year.

Shaun had flowers sent to my office with a cute little puppy dog, and I had an hour massage today. And man was it needed.

I hope everyone else had a fantastic day and did something nice for themselves and someone else.

Two Days in Hyjal

Tuesday was our first real attempt in Mount Hyjal. We had to manage another Kael'thas kill before we had all of our core raiders keyed.

We did incredibly well. Rage Winterchill and Anetheron down on the first night.

After those two, we ran over to Black Temple to get that attunement done and get an idea at what the instance actually looked like.

Wednesday we went back into Hyjal and took down Kaz'rogal after only one wipe.

We called it from there and went off to do some dailies or Heroics. A group of us went to do Heroic Arc for the daily quest, and I still needed it to finish a Trial of the Naruu quest. We made it all the way to the end only to have the last encounter bug out and the AQ40 boss just stand there. We submitted a ticket but as always, Blizzard wasn't very timely in their response and I went to bed before hearing from them. Now I have to do the instance again :(
