Good Service
I'm back again after a long absence. Haven't had the time to visit the cyber cafe till today. Been a while since Ben and i have broken up and thankfully, i am coping well in trying to get over him....
Ever wondered where you can have good food with great service without having to pay for GST and Service charge? Well, i'm not sure about the name of the restaurant, but there's this one place in Bugis which specialises in Taiwanese food that does not have GST and service charge and yet has good service. Owned by a Taiwanese lady who's young, pretty and well mannered, you'd feel like you're in Taiwan the moment you're in there. The price of every dish is reasonable and they're all cooked to perfection, esp the Beef Noodles, the best i ever ate.
It's like, these days, every restaurant or cafe you go to, there's service charge and GST included in your bill and yet, the service may not even be as good, just like Swensens for example. However, in this Taiwanese cafe i am talking about, you'd get good service for free.
Go check it out. It's located just oppposite Bugis Junction where the whole stretch of lane has various eateries.

Chinatown
Been a couple of years since the last time i really shopped in Chinatown and yesterday as the first time after all these years.
Met Jave there in the afternoon and i'm totally impressed with how beautiful the place has become. So many changes have taken place over the last couple of years and there're just so many good eating places now.
We took a walk along all the shopping complexes at first and i managed to grab a couple of bites from all the famous eateries as recommended by Jave. Spotted so many elderly people around the area too which makes it so different from the usual crowd at Orchard Road.
It was dinner thereafter at this coffee shop at Keong Saik Road which specialises in really good porridge at reasonable price. Best of all, the serving is huge. It's thanks to my Jave that i got to learn of such good eating places.
Headed down to my childhood place where i grew up after that which is Tanjong Pagar. As i entered the area, fond memories of my younger days came flooding my mind where i was taken care of by my late grandmother. Those days, like was full of joy and stress free.
Less than 2 hours after all the eating in Chinatown, we walked down Amoy Streey to the Satay Club at "Lau Pa Sat" for more great food. What angered me was the price of satay. It has gone up to 50 cents each as compared to the last time i was there where it was only 40 cents. However, to my delight, i realised there's even this thing called "Duck Satay". Hmm, something new.
Never had a Sunday as great as yesterday. Gotta really thank Jave for making my day. Had a great time and really enjoyed your great company.
No wonder they say Singapore's a food heaven.

Inconsiderate people
Not sure how many of you guys have encountered this problem. Was queueing at the "SAM" machine earlier to pay up my mobile phone bill. In front of me was this person who was currently using the machine and i was supposed to be next. Just after this person had finished, i was just about to move front when this idiotic pregnant woman appeared from nowehere, cutting right in front of me and stood in front of the machine.
Being someone who tolerates no nonsense, i went straight up to her and gave her a good confrontation. Well, was expecting an apology from her, but instead, she claimed i was blind and asked if i could see if she was pregnant. That put me speechless...
Is there a rule in Singapore that says it is a must to give way to pregnant women when it comes to queueing for paying bills? If it is in a bus or train, i fully understand, but in a queue? Even if she had wanted to have her turn first because she's pregnant or whatever, i felt she should have been more polite by asking me if she could go ahead of me instead of simply doing what she did. I'd be more than happy to let her have her turn first.

What a boring weekend
The recent long weekend was the most boring one i ever had. Since i was kinda broke, there was no where i could go except staying home. Hence, it was the programmes on the MTV channel that i watched all day, getting myself bored eventually with all the repititions of the same music videos.
I don't normally like eating out with my parents as they tend to be naggy along the way, however since i was outta cash, i didn't have much of a choice last night where we dined at a nearby food court. My mum, however was really upset about my dad taking her to just a food court as she was expecting something more classy. As a result, her face was black throughout our meal, looking as if the sky was gonna collapse anytime. Frightnening indeed.....!
That, perhaps was the only interesting stuff that happened over the boring weekend. I'm looking forward to clubbin this weekend since i'll have my pay by then. I miss Newsroom Bar...

My Blog
I'm back wif my next entry again after a week's break. Since this is my blog and my own webpage, don't i have the right to express anything i want in here? Like, my thoughts, my opinions, my feelings, etc...?
Unfortunately, i have been bitched and crirised by some people for doing that. Glad that my blog is now password protected and only a few of my good friends whom i really trust has access to read it.

Collapse of Highway
Our government here is really capable in covering up. Sure you would have heard the news about the collapse of Nicoll Highway by now which happened in the afternoon yesterday. According to news reports given by the authorities, only 1 has been confirmed dead so far and only 3 are still missing as well as 2 others discharged from the hospital. That's absolute rubbish. The place of the explosion happens to be where my dad was working yesterday. Being an LTA staff, he's currently involved in the new MRT Circle Line Project and his work site is located at the place where the bridge went down yesterday, and i must say, i almost lost him. He was working as usual when he saw part of the pillar that was being used to support the temporary bridge collapse and after that, the strong smell of gas could be felt. That's where he knew something bad was gonna happen and immediately got out from the worksite and ran for his life. Moments after that, the whole bridge came crashing down, causing an impact on the gas pipes that were below, resulting in an explosion and fire. What he saw next was horrifying. All vehicles that were travelling along the highway went crashing down together and got crushed and buried. There were also 2 SBS Buses carrying passengers that went crashing down. So, why was all these not in the news? Why were they not reported? To me, it's obvious the government is just trying to cover things up, making the accident sound like it's not so bad after all, trying to protect Singapore's reputation. My heart goes out to all the passengers in the bus and vehicles that got crushed and buried and yet not made known to public. I sympathise with the relatives of the victims whose deaths were not made public. I can understand the pain of losing their loved one. Just like for me, when the authorities could not locate my dad after the incident, they assumed he was dead and made a call to my mum, saying that he was missing and his body could not be found. You can imagine how my mum reacted to the news who then called me up to break the sad news. Worst of all, when my mum rushed to the scene, she was not allowed to get inside for fear of more collapses and none of the police and civil defence officers were very keen to help. All they did was apologise. The great relief came when i found out my dad was only brought to hospital as he had suffered some shocks after the impact and after hearing about the deaths of his Bangaladeshi workers. So, how did the government derive that only 1 was dead and a few missing? Thanks to my dad who was an eye witness to that accident or i'd be stupid enough to trust the news.
